History
Victorian Village Inc. (VVI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) Community Development Corporation. It was incorporated by a group of concerned citizens in the summer of 2006. Initially, the mission focused on heritage tourism and the historic preservation of the great Victorian mansions in the neighborhood. Now, almost twenty years later, the historic houses are in safe hands and VVI has expanded its mission to include parks and streetscapes, safety and security, community leadership, homeless services support, heritage tourism, and connecting incentives for residential and business development.
Our premise is simple: If we can create an active neighborhood with families out walking their dogs in the parks, supporting the medical district, and creating a strong economy, we can save the historic properties by making them the center of activity.
Our physical boundaries are Poplar Avenue to the north, Danny Thomas to the west, Madison Avenue to the south, and Manassas to the east. VVI is also working to develop the neighborhood north of Poplar Ave.
According to the 2020 US census, we have 3000 residents and an additional 5000 dayworkers and visitors.
