As a primary corridor from Downtown through the Medical District and to Midtown, the Engineering Division has targeted Jefferson Avenue for major upgrades. The proposed improvements will enhance the safety and experience along the street to create a “Better Jefferson” for all users.

The project’s scope includes a nearly two-mile corridor of Jefferson Avenue from Front Street to Cleveland Street. This project will provide design, engineering, and construction services for complete streets improvements to Jefferson Avenue in midtown Memphis. Improvements will include traffic signal upgrades, the creation of protected bike lanes, enhanced pedestrian crossings, and resurfacing of the roadway.
